Purpose To provide managerial and supervisory skills necessary to operate a large warehouse facility and transportation operation. A hands-on position that helps in the daily activities, management, and coordination of inventory for University Housing and Dining (UHD) Warehouse, transportation of goods for Dining and Catering, and the organization of all Jester building storage locations. Responsibilities Manages daily operation of Jester Stores which includes receiving, issuing, and coordinating daily deliveries to dining, facility, and catering locations. Operates material handling equipment: forklift, pallet jack, and dolly. Schedules, supervises, and works with the team in the receipt, storage, and shipping of food items and supplies. Orders and maintains par level on certain foods and supplies. Uses Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook to create communications, documents, and spreadsheets. Attends dining management meetings and/or reads meeting minutes to be abreast of activities within UHD. Works closely with the catering operations team to coordinate event deliveries and pick-ups. Attend weekly catering BEO meetings to establish an overall logistic plan with the Associate Director of Jester. Coordinates and oversees the transfer of merchandise between facilities. Implements and oversees the use of a computerized scan inventory system, working closely with the UHD IT department and FoodPro staff. Interview, hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff. Provide feedback and conduct evaluations on staff as per UHD policy. Work closely with FoodPro coordinator to verify data on transfers is correct. Work closely with the catering team, Unit Managers, Purchasing, Associate Directors, and upper leadership regarding needs for special events such as special meals, move-in, orientation, etc. Conducts weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory. Review inventory analysis and work with FoodPro coordinator to clarify any issues and correct data. Work with the accounting department to conduct annual physical inventory. Inspects all building storage locations for cleanliness and order. Maintains warehouse and food storage areas to meet federal, state, local, and university food safety requirements. Manages all receiving: confirmation of receipt and storage of goods in appropriate areas. Works with dining admins to submit work orders on needed repairs. Work closely with the facilities team regarding the care and maintenance of equipment. Attends to the maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree. At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory and/or manager capacity in a warehouse, receiving, or similar environment. Ability to become a certified forklift operator within 60 days of hire. Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications 3 or more years of experience working in warehousing, receiving, or similar environment. Experience in purchasing food or food service supplies. Experience in computerized inventory and ordering systems. Experience working in a team environment. Working knowledge of warehouse and delivery equipment. Working knowledge using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills and professional demeanor. Demonstrated attention to detail. Certified to operate forklift. Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
