Texas Oncology Round Rock is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider I to join our team!  This full-time position will support the Medical Oncology and Hematology Departments at our 2410 Round Rock Avenue #150 location in Round Rock, Texas.   After on-boarding there is available flexibility for four clinical days and one administrative day.

We welcome experienced APPs and also offer mentoring in Oncology to APPs interested in gaining expertise in the field.

What does the Advanced Practice Provider I do? 

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcherEnsures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirementsSupports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. 


Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.  
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated 
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training 
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.  
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.  
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.  
  • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.  
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.  
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.   
  • May promote/provide staff education  
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.  
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Advanced Practice Provider position will have the following background and experience:   

 

Nurse Practitioner 

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner programThis position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialtyRN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required 

OR 

Physician Assistant 

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant programCurrent NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. This position is entry-level and typically requires 0-3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialtyCurrent state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing stateCurrent basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required 

OR  

Clinical Nurse Specialist 

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing stateCurrent state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
