Position Description / Mission :
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for all one-to-one aspects of the prospective student journey for applicants to The Washington Center’s catalog of program offerings. They nurture hundreds of applicants as they move through TWC’s Academic Internship Program (AIP) and short-term program enrollment funnels. Along with other members of the Recruitment and Admissions team, they will also conduct recruitment and lead generation activities on partner campuses. They provide extraordinary customer service to everyone they encounter and serve as the face of TWC in many of their stakeholder interactions. This position requires travel (up to 15% of the time) to partner campuses and some evening and weekend work / events.
The Washington Center is a remote / hybrid organization with the majority of employees working on average one day per week in TWC’s Residential and Academic Facility, conveniently located near Union Station and public transportation in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, DC. Given our organizational mission focus on skills, workforce development and collaboration, there are times where cross-collaboration among teams and departments will require more than one day per week in the office. The individual in this role is expected to reside in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Applicant Nurturing / Conversion
- Build relationships with hundreds of applicants and nurture them through the enrollment funnel; meet or exceed set applicant conversion rates for each stage.
- Maintain regular contact with applicants through scheduled conversations, outgoing phone calls, one-to-one emails, webinars, Zoom meetings, and text messages. Admissions Counselors are expected to spend considerable time on outreach activities to prospective students, for both AIP and short-term / seminar programs.
- Collaborate with marketing-focused colleagues to align personalized messaging with broader strategy and continuously refine the student journey including mass email, social media, and content creation.
- Provide support for Live Chat and respond to or redirect inquiries sent to the info box email address, offering superior customer service to all students and other parties.
