What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper Elementary School teacher position at The Wesley School?
The Wesley School is a private Christian school located in Calvert County licensed by the Maryland State Dept of Education. Our curriculum encourages critical and creative thinking in developmentally appropriate ways. It is academically challenging while at the same time flexible in understanding the differences of the human mind. Our teachers and staff work collaboratively to cultivate the best educational outcomes for every learner. By understanding the unique learning profiles of each student, we assure they master knowledge, gain confidence in learning, and improve their skills in each area: Literacy, Mathematics, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Technology, Engineering and the Arts. We prioritize small class sizes (no more than 12 students per class) in order to differentiate instruction and give individualized attention to our students. An Upper School lead teacher will differentiate classroom curriculum to support all learning types, including those that may have special educational needs. This role involves helping create an inclusive, supportive, and Christ-centered classroom environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, a heart for service, and a commitment to fostering students' spiritual, emotional, and academic development. Our teachers also appreciate the flexibility and low stress environment the school provides to support a wonderful work/life balance.
"The Wesley School is a welcoming school, where the whole child is valued, relationships cultivated, and learning styles are recognized and respected. A place where children gain a love for learning and teachers love to teach."
