Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000 DOE
Benefits: After a 90 day probationary period, benefits include health, dental, and vision.
Job Summary: The Wild Animal Sanctuary is looking for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator. This position is responsible for recruiting, training and managing the Sanctuary’s volunteer program. This role is also responsible for database and administrative duties related to the program. Job duties include: communicating with and outreaching to returning and new volunteers, supporting registration process, collecting and reporting on all related volunteer data, and managing the volunteer database. Responsible to oversee, develop, coordinate, and execute event functions and seasonal projects. Ranch hand work involved, including organizing projects with volunteer involvement, working with other departments such as animal care. This position involves a great deal of management and outdoor work, applicants must be physically fit and able to endure extreme temperature and varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift 75lbs or more, physical abilities needed to complete the job: lifting and carrying heavy materials such as; furniture, equipment, and tools. Some tasks involve; climbing, crawling, and stooping to reach. Need to be able to; pull, push or manipulate heavy objects against resistance. This work is performed in outdoors, inclement weather, heat of the summer, and in an office setting.
Job duties would include a strong interest in volunteerism, conservation, environmental and wildlife issues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Volunteer Program including recruitment and training.
- Manage related volunteer recruitment communications, including drafting email templates, posting project descriptions to volunteer website and administering volunteer input & surveys.
- Oversee and troubleshoot registration, orientation, training and shift duty issues.
- Manage all community outreach events.
- Serve as a liaison with other staff who will be helping oversee volunteers in various roles (i.e., Animal Care, Education, Administrative, Maintenance and Event Preparation).
- Creating volunteer program materials (policies and procedures, applications, volunteer agreements, orientation handbooks
- Oversee Volunteer Mentoring Program and annual evaluations
- Oversee the annual volunteer recognition process including producing the annual volunteer appreciation & awards event.
- Manage and direct database integration and implementation of volunteer web site and related volunteer engagement and monthly hour/commitment monitoring.
- Risk management & Strategic planning.
- Coordinate volunteer training and on-site equipment use.
- Produce reports on volunteers, accomplishments, and measurement tracking and reporting on mentoring, communications and outreach efforts.
- Perform other related duties as required to support and strengthen the mission of The Wild Animal Sanctuary.
- Occasional light travel to and from our Refuge location in Springfield, Co.
Required/Other Qualifications:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record
- 1-3 years of relatable experience
- Experience with databases and web site registration software
- Demonstrated attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Exceptional analytical and reasoning skills
- Goal-oriented individual with proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Reliable source of transportation to and from work
- Solid understanding of volunteer management and or non-profit organizations
- Ability to liaise with other departments to achieve a common goal
- Able to lift 75lbs or more
