We are in search of a Collections Officer for a physical therapy,, and chiropractic practice. in Bayside NY
Primary Duties: Collections
Must understand all major medical coverage plans, such as Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Point-of-Service Plans (POS) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) and. Resubmitting and negotiating claims for correct payments.
- Collections, Posting and Aging in a timely manner in order to maintain company metrics at a consistent level
- Must understand all major medical coverage plans, such as Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Point-of-Service Plans (POS) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs)
- Recognize the different methods of billing insurances, recognizing expected payments vs. actual payments according to individual plan coverages.
- Monitor aging report for assigned insurance carriers
- Work all EOBs, denials and rejected claims for assigned insurance carriers
- Review, collect and appeal any unpaid claims
- Recording all attempts made in details on the system software
- Enter/edit patient demographics and insurance information
- Retrieve patient phone calls regarding account payment or any discrepancies
- Monitor assigned insurance carriers for any updates and changes
- Prepare any medical records request from assigned carriers
- Insurance payment posting
- Charge entry
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Strong customer service orientation – both external and internal.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
3. Experience with EMRs, Criterions, Trizetto, Eclinicalworks
4. Computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel in particular.
4. 2 years experience as a medical collector with Physical Therapy, chiropractic, or PMR perfered.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
