We are seeking an artistic, creative, and enthusiastic full-time candidate eager to join our production team. You will be responsible for playing a key role in our west coast production facility within our nationwide portfolio of entertainment assets that includes Haunted Attractions, Halloween Festivals, Immersive Experiences, Escape Rooms and Axe Throwing. We are looking for someone with an artistic background focused on scenic painting. Strong candidates will have extensive skills in scenic painting, with additional experience in minor carpentry and set dressing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Paints sets and props by following direction of lead designers or conceptual drawings

• Prepares surfaces for painting and removes old paint from surfaces

• Preps and paints new surfaces for new construction and overlays

• Paints various props to match existing surfaces

• Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces

• Specialized painting and Faux Techniques, new work and touch up

• Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, and stone

• Simulates rust, dirt, mold and aging of surfaces to match overall themes

• Applies wallpaper, fabrics, and other specialty work

• Equipment cleaning, care, and maintenance.

• Support of Maintenance repair functions, such as drywall mudding and caulking, and performs all other duties as assigned

• Low level assistance with carpentry projects

• Assist with set dressing and decor

• Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used within the field

• Knowledge of commercial/industrial & show quality practices and processes of the painting trade, paints, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, epoxies, paint removers, and related materials, and of their properties and application

• Ability & willingness to work a variety of schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays with short notice

• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills

• Must have the ability to work independently under pressure or with a team of artists while maintaining a positive attitude

• Experience in freestyle painting

• Act as an enthusiastic team player for load in, install and load out of seasonal attractions

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 2-4 year’s experience in professional scenic painting

· Carpentry and Set dressing experience a plus.

· Able to lift up to 50lbs.

· Must pass company background screen and reference check.

· Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

· Must have reliable transportation.

· Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

· Solid problem-solving skills

· Multi-tasking capability and time management skills
