What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brewery Lab Technician position at Thomas Hooker Brewing Company?
Thomas Hooker Brewing Company in Bloomfield is seeking a part time Lab Technician for our Bloomfield brewing facility. The lab technician will be responsible for QA/QC testing in various areas of our pre and post production process, as well as the formulation of CBD emulsions with possible THC applications in the future. Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours a week but more may be required.
Responsibilities for Lab Technician
- Perform routine aseptic sample collection and PCR analysis of beer samples
- Conduct yeast quantity and viability counts
- Operate, maintain, and occasionally repair high pressure homogenizer
- Log and report results
- Maintain additional lab equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area
- Occasional R&D, and research into new suppliers
- Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
Qualifications for Lab Technician
- BS in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 1-2 years of experience working in a lab.
- Computer skills: knowledge of Google Docs/Sheets
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
