Your Role as Construction Scheduling Manager
As the Construction Scheduling Manager, you will be overseeing and managing the scheduling of multiple construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and in a manner that adheres to the Company’s quality, process, and business standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development & Oversight
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Establish project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation plans to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.
- Participate in all phases of construction planning and scheduling process, including baseline and track schedules as well as reviewing/approving project schedules from project teams, adjusting as needed to align with organizational goals and client requirements.
- Assist Pre-con with development of project durations/preliminary project schedules
- Assist project teams in schedule sequencing, methods of construction, project delays and impacts, alternate work plans and recovery schedules.
- Develop and facilitate schedule training programs for internal team members.
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective communication, providing guidance on best practices, resource allocation, and schedule management.
- Act as the primary scheduling liaison between the company, clients, and key stakeholders to provide clarity on project schedules, updates, and potential adjustments.
- Identify and effectively communicate schedule challenges, risks, and conflicts to stakeholders and provide corrective suggestions and creative solutions.
- Oversee the production and maintenance of accurate project schedules.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor project progress across all active projects, identifying and addressing any deviations from the master schedule.
- Monitor construction progress and data entry for project performance updates.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on project status, scheduling changes, and potential risks to Executive Team, highlighting scheduling KPIs.
- Provide critical path analyses, identifying problem areas and creating work-around solutions
- Risk Management & Mitigation
- Identify potential risks to project timelines, including resource shortages, site constraints, and adverse weather conditions.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate delays and ensure continuity of work across all projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to address scheduling conflicts, propose solutions, and ensure effective problem-solving.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Process Improvement & Compliance
- Evaluate and continuously improve scheduling processes, tools, and standards to enhance project efficiency and timeline accuracy.
- Ensure all project schedules comply with client requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Stay current with industry scheduling trends and implement best practices for the construction scheduling team.
- Analyze trends, delays, and productivity metrics to inform decision-making and optimize future scheduling practices.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 5 years of experience in construction scheduling or project management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Advanced proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore).
- Must have working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Can read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, scheduling software, processes, phases, implementation and resource management.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Holds an expert understanding of work activity sequence, durations, schedule, critical path analysis, resource loading and leveling.
- Ability to recognize areas of concern and potential improvements to schedule sequencing during job site visits.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements.
Office and Travel:
- Indoor office environment. May require work on site location when necessary. Overnight travel as needed.
