Position Summary
The Fluids Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Fluids Laboratory Supervisor and will be responsible for processing and testing fluid samples in accordance with Thompson Tractor Company and Caterpillar guidelines. The ability to understand test results data and to accurately enter data into the data management system is a requirement for the position. The Technician must have the ability to perform multiple tasks, have the ability to work independently, and have the ability to process a high volume of work with a high degree of accuracy. The Fluids Laboratory Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.
- Receives and catalogs fluid samples for sample preparation
- Performs oil sample testing for fuel, coolant, and water contamination
- Enrolls samples and inputs data into the sample data management system
- Completes daily service and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments
- Monitors consumable stock levels and reports deficiencies to Laboratory Analyst
- Confirms completed lab results data transfer at the end of each workday
- Effectively communicates with Company personnel to address customer needs
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor
