What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraeducator position at Thornapple Kellogg High School?
Position: High School Special Education Paraeducator
Monday - Friday
6.75 hours per day
School days only
Qualifications:
1. High School Graduate
2. Must be able to lift 40-60 lbs.
3. Assist students with medical needs including, but not limited to, diastat and CPR (will provide training)
4. Needs CPI training (will provide if necessary)
5. Some supervision outside and inside the classroom
6. Have the ability to work positively with students, teachers and parents
7. Excellent communication skills
8. Experience working with high school students preferred
9. Willingness to work as part of a team of professionals
Responsibilities:
1. Provide individual student support in a Least Restrictive environment.
2. Document student behavior on a daily basis.
3. Redirect student behavior and reinforce appropriate behavior throughout the day.
