Thornton Winery is hiring a friendly, energetic, and organized Host. This is a part-time, seasonal position responsible for a variety of tasks during our Friday night and weekend jazz concerts running April through October. Additional days as needed depending on business needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Genuinely greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a smile and eye contact. Escort them to assigned dining area, present menus, inform of current promotion, and announce waiter's name to ensure a smooth hand off to the service staff.
- Ensure a clean, safe and organized event area while providing outstanding customer service.
- Answer café phone to book reservations and answer any guest questions
- Knowledge of OpenTable reservation system
- Keeping front area of café clean at all times (sweeping, cleaning & sanitizing host stand/ipads/menus/POS)
- Organizing and stocking all tools for success for the café (Roll-ups/receipt paper/menus/tasting sheets/crayons/flyers)
- Creating ideas to display weekly food specials and any promotions.
- Seating guests and ensuring all tables are ready before anticipated parties arrive
- Ensuring lights and music are on inside and out
Qualifications for Busser
- MUST be available Friday nights and Saturday nights.
- Restaurant and Host experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work under stress.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Tolerate being on your feet for extended periods of time and move throughout the property including stairs to the second level.
- Have a food handlers card or the ability to obtain one.
