What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sous Chef position at Thornton Winery?
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee preparation, production and presentation of high-quality food. Fosters and promotes an atmosphere in which employees will take pride in the duties they perform and the products they produce. Supervisory duties in an effort to provide quality dining experience for our customers.
Requirements and Essential Functions (partial list)
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Minimum three years current experience in restaurant/hospitality.
- Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.
- Direct and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan/develop recipes and menus.
- Check quantity and quality of received products.
- Maintain consistency in preparation/presentation for all menu items and specials.
- Direct collaboration with Executive Chef on hiring/termination of employees, as well as input on performance reviews.
- Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills.
- Resolves customer issues and concerns.
- Possess a Riverside County Food Handlers card.
