General Summary: Works as a generalist staff in a Clubhouse staff in a clubhouse program. Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform work tasks in the context of the work units and work ordered day, side by side with members. Teach skills in the context of the work unites and the work ordered day.
- Manage TE, SE and IE positions in the community, providing job coaching and coverage when needed.
- Work in partnership with Clubhouse Director to develop and maintain relationships with local business and industry to create job opportunities for members.
- Work in strength based environment in partnership with adults living with serious and persistent mental illness.
- Convey a vibrant and positive energy that engages members and supports a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment for members and staff. Deliver support in a trauma-informed manner.
- Assist members in recognizing their strengths and sharing those strengths with members and staff. Convey with members a vision of their potential that is not restricted by disability, but is based on needs and aspirations common to all people.
- Must engage members in all aspects of Clubhouse work and the functions of the Clubhouse generalist as appropriate.
- Actively promoted the development of members’ aspirations regarding Clubhouse participation, employment, education, housing and social involvements. Assist members in setting goals. Staff and members together formulate plans for progressing towards these goals.
- In a Clubhouse mileau, work in group settings where staff share responsibilities with members, enabling the raising of expectations to permeate the group and allow members to take on lead roles to encourage each other and provide opportunity for empowerment.
- Assist members in getting entitlement benefits, psychiatric and medical treatment, and using other community resources as needed.
- Offer positive support relationships that help promote hope, choice, wellness, and recovery for members, while maintaining appropriate social boundaries. Help members feel needed, respected and valued as club participants.
- Provide regular outreach via multi-media, telephone, and home/hospital visits to maintain member engagement and provide community based support.
- Be an active part of the member’s support team, including family as appropriate, work to support high quality care as an advocate for the member.
- Work as a primary staff for multiple members, with responsibility for weekly note completion, annual goal planning, and semi-annual goal review.
Education, Experience, Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the human services, business or a related field with an equivalent combination of related experience.
- Two years full-time experience in a program or service providing supported employment or psychiatric rehabilitation for individuals living with serious and persistent mental health.
- Clubhouse experience a plus
- Initiation and successful completed of Comprehensive Clubhouse Training required.
- Must be a good listener and have an understanding of mental illness
- Ability to multi-task in a group environment.
- Model a positive attitude towards work
Certifications, Licenses Requirements:
Support Employment Professional Certification may replace one (1) year of professional experience.
Valid driver's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.
