At Manchester Veterinary Clinic you’ll feel the warmth and openness of a small clinic, while having the opportunity and support of a united network. Our ideal candidate is passionate about animal care, highly motivated, and pays attention to detail. Our Veterinary Technicians are the heartbeat of our team and work side by side with our Veterinarians (DVMs) during procedures. A part-time position would require working between 20-30 hours a week. This is a part-time role with the potential to expand to full-time in the future.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Provide anesthesia and monitoring for procedures and surgery
  • Monitoring and assessing patient’s status
  • Dental radiographs, scaling and polishing is required
  • Knowledge and use of medical math
  • Perform in-house diagnostics to include radiographs, bloodwork, urinalysis (via cysto), and other testing
  • Placing catheters
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Veterinary technician experience required
  • Surgery experience required
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience
  • Basic tech skills required include venipuncture, anesthesia, nursing care
  • Commitment to working within a team environment
  • Positive, will-do attitude
  • Team player with flexibility
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a busy work setting
  • Professional demeanor and outgoing personality
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squatting, reach, standing, and walking throughout the day.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $22-24/hr. for certified technicians and $20-$22/hr. for non-certified technicians. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
