Summary
The Insurance Solutions Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of illustration systems and administration system setup to enable the sale and servicing of insurance products. This position leads small to medium initiatives, that may be strategic, by understanding the business need/problem to be solved and designing and implementing solutions to meet the needs. This includes drafting requirements, designing product illustration input and output specifications, performing updates, designing and executing test cases, and developing training/support materials. This position recommends and implements solutions that deliver on client/agent experience, regulatory compliance and/or competitive advantage.
The Insurance Solutions Business Systems Analyst leads and facilitates the collaboration between business peers, financial professionals (when needed) and technology solutions. Effective communication with ability to translate complex business and technical solutions appropriately to audiences is required.
Job Description
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews, analyzes & updates product administration systems, as needed to support the life insurance, annuity and health insurance product lines.
- Analyzes and initiates improvements to sales and inforce illustration systems, based on feedback and collaboration with Product Specialists, Sales Teams, and Financial Professionals to support sale and service of Thrivent insurance products.
- Creates and implements test plans to ensure quality and accuracy of product administration and illustration systems.
- Resolves highly complex issues escalated by the business team using simple, non-technical language. Can also consult with IT Personnel in a more technical manner and other business areas (i.e. Legal and Compliance) to help with resolutions.
- Defines scope, objectives and requirements on moderately complex projects. Assists in defining and designing system/business/data requirements and recommends solutions to moderately complex business needs.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all state insurance requirements, FINRA regulations and Thrivent disclosures. Review and recommend updates to illustration language to ensure business practices are compliant.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 4-6 years of experience in the business system analyst field or related area
- Technical expertise and strong understanding within multiple (3 ) functional areas
- Moderate levels of analysis and independence
- Solid working knowledge of systems design process and methodology as well as knowledge / use of systems tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and other applications / software as required
- Familiarity with testing tools
