Material Handler and Controller Position Overview
The Material Handler maintains material requirements for all production needs. A Material Handler in a manufacturing setting is responsible for the timely and efficient movement of raw materials, components, and finished products within the production facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the production process runs
Material Handler Essential Functions
- Reads production schedule and determines material requirements for production
- Moves materials and containers from storage or work stations to designated areas to meet requirements of production schedule
- Reports any process and equipment problems. Works with Maintenance/Mold Technicians on any problems.
- Identifies materials and containers with suitable tags or labels
- Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment according to procedures.
- Loads loose materials into hoppers and containers
- Mixes materials according to product requirements
- Ensures all materials are weighed up and inventoried at the end of production runs.
- Ensures material inventory matches the ERP inventory
- Distributes status reports for the incoming shift Material Handlers.
- Work efficiently to try and meet all scheduled production needs.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.

Material Handler Required Experience
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Frequently required walking and reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance.
- Able to operate forklift.
- Requires overall knowledge of instruments, dryers, filters, pumps, forklifts, scales, banding machines, standard test equipment, and plant processes.
Material Handler Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to read applicable instructions.
