Job Summary:
The Chemical Process Engineer will support the capital expansion projects team on a variety of projects ranging from maintenance and improvements of existing production facilities to design and construction of new ones. This position will be involved with projects from conception through completion and be responsible for delivering key sections of the projects on time and within budget while meeting all technical and quality standards. The chemical process engineer will be responsible for designing processes, developing control logic, establishing equipment and facility requirements, and reviewing and technically vetting quotes from contractors and equipment vendors. Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects by providing technical process and chemical engineering and coordinating project activities.
- Ensure that projects are performed safely and that project deliverables result in a safe working area for all personnel.
- Create accurate project documentation, including design specifications, progress reports, and quality control systems.
- Analyze project data, identify potential issues, and provide solutions to improve project efficiency and quality.
- Develop project deliverables and technical standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
- Manage the selection, evaluation, and coordination of vendors and suppliers to procure necessary materials and equipment for projects.
- Monitor project schedules and report any deviations or delays to senior management to ensure timely delivery.
- Oversee outside engineering contractor’s performance and deliverables,
- Develop design packages including piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping isometrics, plot plan layouts, startup and commissioning procedures, operating procedures, etc.
- Review controls and automation logic.
- Willingness to travel as required. Estimated 10% annually during work-week.
Basic Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
- 5 or more years working in an industrial chemical production environment, advanced manufacturing, or related field.
- Willingness to relocate to Bellingham, WA
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Familiarity with equipment and underlying chemistry used in chemical production processes.
- Familiarity with the principles of control systems and industrial automation.
- Experience with project management principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of experience in an industrial chemical production environment or related field.
- Direct experience in design, construction, maintenance, or operation of chemical production facilities
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplined projects.
- Experience managing or leading an engineering teams
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed within Tidal Vision’s warehouse. This position will be expected and required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas and while on-site. Hiring is conditional upon background check.
