What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Assistant position at Timewell Drainage Products?
Job Summary:
The Yard Assistant is responsible for maintaining efficient systems and processes relevant to outdoor storage of finished drainage pipe and fittings and for the physical maintenance and upkeep of the yard itself. The environment is nearly 100% outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions.
The Yard Assistant must have a strong sense of ownership of quality and excellence and must be able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Always promote and maintain a safe working environment.
- Store and log yard inventory so as to provide for efficient use of space and vehicle flow.
- Apply measures which will prevent product damage and loss.
- Execute proper loading of outbound trailers.
- Perform basic grounds keeping of the facility,
- Inspect power equipment and report deficiencies to Yard Manager
- Assemble products which require fittings and submit reports on assembled products
- Relocate semi-trailers as needed to allow for efficient loading and movement on the yard.
Occasional Duties:
- Assist with physical inventory
- Participate in meetings/discussion with Management on inventory-related topics
- Grading & grooming of gravel storage yard
- Groundskeeping and lawn care
- Assist with filling and loading customer pick-up orders
- Prepare and package product for UPS shipment
- Assist with unloading product as needed
- Other miscellaneous duties as required
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to learn basic PC skills
- Forklift certification
- Ability to safely operate farm-type tractor
