Day Care Teacher

Tioga Downs has opened a Day Care for our employees! We are hiring qualified Full-time Day Care Teachers who can provide an engaging, positive, fun, and safe learning environment for our children (Ages 6 Weeks-12 Years). Our Day Care Teachers are responsible for daily care and conducting educational programs that comply with local and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide excellent service to children and parents.
• Prepare materials to be used for art and science projects
• Efficiently communicate and coordinate with Day Care Aides around teaching daily lesson plans.
• Offer individual support to students in small groups to promote the understanding of more challenging concepts.
• Oversee the safety of the students inside of the classroom, during field trips and on playground.
• Ensure students adhere to the school or daycare stated rules and policies.
• Create activities including crafts, games and other educating activities.
• Ensure each student's progress through assessments and have awareness of students who need additional guidance.
• Provide additional assistance to students who have special needs.
• Ability to manage potentially challenging behavior from students and maintain a professional and patient demeanor
• Experience supporting positive relationships with children and adults in a learning environment

• All other duties assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field;
• OR a CDA and one year experience;
• OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development with two years’ experience.
• Enjoy working with children and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
• Must have basic computer knowledge including Excel, Word, Publisher, Outlook and PowerPoint.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to Multi-task and handle high stress situations. Understanding of childhood development and methods used to instruct children of various ages. Strong organizational skills are essential to prepare materials for planned daily lessons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually highly noisy.

Our Day Care is open every day between 7AM-11PM. Because we serve Casino Employees, weekend availability is necessary.
