Job Description
Since 1979, T.J. Nisbet Construction, Inc. has been a trusted leader in commercial construction, specializing in restaurants, retail, financial institutions, multi-family, industrial, and clinics ground-up projects. We also take on Tenant Improvements (TI) and specialty projects.
We are searching for our next experienced Traveling Superintendent with a demonstrated ability in all phases of project supervision and leadership. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years experience in retail, restaurants, financial institutions, clinics, multi-family ground up construction and/or TI projects. You will have an opportunity to work on many exciting projects that range in size between $500K to $7M dollars.
We have projects in various states, which include: Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, and Montana. These are the states the Traveling Superintendent may be working in, but we try to prioritize states that are closer to Arizona for this role.
Responsibilities
- Must be a skilled and knowledgeable craftsman who is aware of the leading and latest construction techniques.
- Must be able to organize and lead a group of craft workers efficiently to obtain maximum productivity.
- Responsible for ordering and assuring materials and equipment are available and in place prior to crews beginning work in an area.
- Receive and coordinate jobsite deliveries of materials and equipment.
- Must coordinate scaffolding requirements.
- Must oversee onsite fabrication.
- Responsible for interviewing recommended craft workers.
- Responsible for preparing "look-ahead" schedules consistent with the Project Schedule.
- Complete daily reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for working with the head Project Manager, providing input and feedback where requested.
- Implement and manage Quality Assurance Program to ensure compliance with Project Specifications and other contract document requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to implement directions from Project Manager in an effective manner.
- Responsible for holding toolbox safety meetings and preparing written reports.
- Must evaluate and designate a dedicated jobsite safety person as required.
- Responsible for conducting proper and thorough accident investigations and preparing all required accident reports.
- Responsible for implementing all job safety requirements.
- Responsible for ordering, maintenance and inspection of all tools and equipment.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a plan to achieve or exceed estimated labor productivity.
- Managing the overall safety of the job site and all surrounding areas, as you work to achieve positive safety results. This is our highest priority.
- Ensuring that each project is delivered to the client with the highest level of quality.
- Developing the project schedule and effectively managing all schedule dates to meet milestones and completion date.
- Effectively managing the cost of work to ensure that costs do not exceed budget.
- Facilitating communication and management of the job site; ensuring that all parties are aware of their responsibilities and are informed of project status and expectations.
Ensuring project records are processed and maintained as required, and that the project logistics support the schedule
Qualifications:
- You hold a high school diploma (or equivalent); a four-year degree in building science, construction management, or engineering, preferred. A relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
- You have a minimum of five years in the commercial construction industry, with supervisory experience.
- You have experience in fast food, fine dining, retail, financial institutions, multi-family, commercial, tenant improvement, and/or industrial.
- You are knowledgeable in computer programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, and Procore.
- You are a positive team player who is skilled in communication, efficiency, organization, and multi-tasking.
- You have the ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- A valid driver’s license and can operate a vehicle safely.
