Kevin expressed to his brother Tyler that he felt trapped, leading to the creation of tkMomentum in 2017.

About the Role: Are you passionate about helping students navigate the transition to adulthood and build pathways to success? tkMomentum is seeking a dedicated Student Services Specialist to join our team. This role involves a dynamic mix of in-field work and remote administrative tasks focused on supporting students in creating a pathway to transitioning to adulthood. You will play a crucial role in empowering students to advocate for themselves, explore post-secondary education and career options, develop workplace readiness skills, and make informed decisions about their future.
Responsibilities:
- On-Campus Student Meetings:
- Conduct weekly scheduled meetings with students on campus and/or off campus.
- Coordinate with teachers and counselors to confirm student availability.
- Provide individualized support to students in creating a pathway to transitioning to adulthood, including setting goals and exploring post-secondary education and career options.
- Assist students in developing essential life skills for adulthood, such as
- Postsecondary Counseling
- Workplace Readiness Training
- Job Exploration Counseling
- Self Advocacy Training
- Worksite Development:
- Conduct door-to-door visits to local businesses to develop worksites for student employment.
- Build and maintain relationships with businesses to create inclusive employment opportunities for all students.
- Remote Administrative Tasks:
- Complete client payroll related tasks.
- Develop Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and conduct case planning.
- Student Engagement:
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to students in their journey towards independence and adulthood.
- Facilitate workshops and activities focused on developing essential life skills and preparing students for the challenges of adulthood.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in student services, career counseling, or workforce development (preferred)
- Strong understanding of the transition to adulthood and the challenges faced by young adults.
- Understanding of disabilities and their impact on independence and employment opportunities.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Ability to work under pressure and with individuals with high support needs.
- Effective prioritization, organization, and time management.
- Proficiency in various computer applications such as email, word processing, calendar management, basic data entry, and virtual meetings.
Travel and Differential Pay:
- Travel is required within the designated region, with a driving radius based on client needs.
- Reimbursement for mileage, with an expectation of the potential of driving up to 150 miles per week.
- Additional 25% differential pay for scheduled on-site work between 6:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
