SUMMARY:

Supervise production operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures. Ensure smooth production operation during shift. The Production Supervisor has the responsibility and the authority to carry out assigned tasks.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Supervise production operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures. 
  • Train and coach production employees. 
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee PTO, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations. 
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. 
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels. 
  • Schedule and conduct shift meetings. 
  • Responsible to meet shift production goals. 
  • Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications. 
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). 
  • Communicate with other Supervisors and Plant Management. 
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area. 
  • Complete shift paper work. 
  • Assist in production as necessary. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Conduct quality control testing

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Hourly production employees report to this position.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge of the TN Michigan manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of in house manufacturing experience. 
  • Computer Skills required: basic knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Internet. 
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat. The noise level outside the office environment is loud and requires hearing protection at all times. Steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses are required in the manufacturing area.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Required: high school diploma or equivalent and 2 – 5 years of inhouse manufacturing experience.
