JOB TITLE: Host Homes Program Director
COVID-19 Guidelines: Staff are asked to plan and navigate their in-person and remote work time based on personal and program needs. Many duties require in-person work, while some duties may be performed at home as appropriate. Masks are required for in-person work with clients and at program sites. Staff are required to self-screen for symptoms. If any staff person or their cohabitant is sick, that staff person is required to work from home.
ROLE: Lead implementation, operations and evaluation of a Host Homes Pilot Program operating in North Thurston Public School District and Tumwater School District. The Host Homes Program identifies, screens and trains community members who volunteer to host unaccompanied, unstably housed youth aged 13-21 for which program participants receive on-going support. HOURS: 40 per week set based on program and staff needs. Regularly scheduled, rotational evening and weekend hours will be required, as well as some out-of-town travel.
COMPENSATION: Negotiable depending on education and experience. Eligible for competitive benefits package and generous paid leave. Aiming between $60 - $70K per year.
LOCATION: TOGETHER! Headquarters Office primary location, all high schools in North Thurston
Public School District and Tumwater School District, home office, and various points of contact with unaccompanied youth experiencing houselessness and Host Families.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Executive Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Staff Team Supervision:
1. Recruit, train & manage a program team of Host Homes Program Manager, Youth Case
Manager(s), and support staff to deliver case management and support to Host Families and youth participants.
2. Develop a dynamic staff team through monthly team meetings, regular staff check-ins
& field visits for quality assurance.
3. Create team meeting agendas to ensure dissemination of information, collaborative problem solving, regular training and ongoing transparent communication.
4. Ensure staff are properly trained in Case Management, and data entry in the APRICOT cloud-based management system.
5. Regularly assess Program Manager and Youth Case Manager needs and provide ongoing technical assistance, support, and professional development to maintain high quality services.
6. Ensure staff team is communicating with partners, and program participants in a way that builds trust, rapport & long-term relationship.
7. Conduct periodic review (90-day, 6 month & annual review) process for each Manager
8. Conduct internal client file audits to ensure staff compliance with staff case management duties.
Program Management & Operations:
1. Screen, and co-interview Host Families and prospective youth participants.
2. Educate parents and/or legal guardians of minor youth applicants and co-create a judgement free culture in which parents and legal guardians’ partner in creating opportunities for minor youth.
3. Adhere to and periodically review and revise program policies and procedures to ensure program participants’ safety, agency risk management and adherence to State laws and regulations. In addition, ensure that trauma-informed program policies, practices and procedures are implemented based on Host Homes Program best practices.
4. Cultivate a ‘culture of learning’ within the Host Homes Program – plan and attend regular, ongoing trainings on topics relevant to the Host Homes Program, including supporting
LGBTQ and/or Youth of Color experiencing housing instability, positive youth development, trauma-informed care, and Host Home Model best practices.
5. Assess program opportunities & threats. Collaborate with organization leadership to respond appropriately.
6. Serve as Host Homes lead for APRICOT cloud-based management system.
7. Create, adapt & lead adherence to data collection tools, program procedures & processes. Monitor program data collection to assess service delivery and ensure program impact.
8. Provide program information and overview of accomplishments for Executive Director,
Board of Directors, School Districts, and other key stakeholders.
9. Ensure adherence to all funding contracts for the TOGETHER! Host Homes Program.
Report on all program outcomes per funding contracts. Ensure data collection methods provide all necessary information needed to fulfill contract reporting requirements.
10. Collect monthly stories/testimonials from the Program Manager and Youth Case
Manager(s).
11. Manage, maintain and/or collaborate on resource development including grant writing, hosting funder site visits, taking lead roles in program fund raising events and other support as necessary.
12. Lead social media presence for the TOGETHER! Host Homes Program.
13. Work with organization communications staff to ensure communications modes are properly updated and feature new areas of development in Community Schools.
14. Serve as the administrative lead on all program events.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
1. Engage youth in the Host Home Program, including centering and honoring youth input and feedback in planning, implementation, and program modifications.
2. Partner with other Host Homes Programs, and Washington State Host Homes
Coalition, on shared training, meetings, onboarding, and strategic plan initiatives.
3. Serve as the lead for identifying, developing, and nurturing community partnerships.
Schedule regular meetings with advisory council, school districts, stakeholders, and community service provider partnerships as appropriate. Respond to information requests, attend pertinent district meetings, and maintain open communication with partners.
4. Serve as the lead in aspects of program partnership for the Host Homes Program Model in North Thurston Public Schools and Tumwater School District. Collaborate with agency leadership to improve, transform and/or grow service offerings and relationships within the school districts.
5. Serve as point-person for agencies/programs interested in partnering with Host Homes
Program; facilitate alliances and help broker new partnerships with City agencies and non- profit partners that align with youth-driven goals/needs in Host Homes Program.
Direct Support of Program Participants when Needed
1. As necessary, transport Host Homes youth participants, in own personal vehicle, to
Individual Service Plan-related appointments and activities in accordance with TOGETHER!
Polices and Youth Program Procedures.
2. Facilitate youth participant referrals to outside supports/services when needed.
3. Participate in School District student intervention teams where appropriate.
Administrative Duties:
1. Serve as part of the organization’s leadership team. Partner with organization leadership to address key challenges, take advantage of opportunities & develop programs and strategies that meet the mission & vision of TOGETHER!.
2. Serve as an ambassador of TOGETHER!’s mission, vision & values.
3. Lead & attend agency training sessions and staff meetings; represent TOGETHER! at community events.
4. Ensure implementation of policies adopted by TOGETHER!’s Board of Directors.
5. Other duties as assigned, including performing own administrative work.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
1. Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW); Master of Nonprofit Management; Master of Public Administration or comparable degree and experience working in the nonprofit sector.
2. Bicultural life experience, LGBT2QIAA life experience, and other intersectional life experience are considered assets to this position.
3. Direct client case management experience.
4. Project Management Experience.
5. Experience creating assessment tools and working with database systems
6. Previous experience supervising & supporting staff.
7. Experience in houselessness prevention and/or supporting populations experiencing unstable housing.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in Community Health, Social Work, Psychology,
Housing, Community Organizing, or closely related field; candidates with significant work/life experience in place of bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply.
3. Project management and/or youth program development experience.
4. CPR/First Aid certification and current Food Worker Card.
5. Good organizational, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills.
6. Experience in administrative and other complex organizational tasks.
7. Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ and/or Youth of Color and personal commitment to integrating youth voice/choice and best practices for working with
LGBTQ and/or Youth of Color in all aspects of the Host Home Program.
8. Acknowledgment and understanding of systemic oppression and a commitment to systems change.
9. Experience in recruiting, training, and managing/supporting staff and volunteers.
10. Demonstrated experience in building/maintaining partnerships between community organizations, teams, and community coalitions working toward a common goal.
11. Ability to act as a liaison between schools and community groups.
12. Ability to develop relationships with, relate to, and motivate high school aged youth.
13. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
14. Willingness to follow agency, program, and school-site policies and procedures.
15. Experience working in a collaborative setting. Ability to work independently and as a team member, balancing multiple competing priorities.
16. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, creativity, and commitment to the organization’s mission and the mission of ending youth houselessness.
17. Demonstrated commitment to TOGETHER!’s mission, vision, and core values.
18. Ability to work the overnight and weekend on-call crisis line on a rotational basis.

20. Ability and willingness to transport Host Homes youth participants in own personal vehicle as needed, both planned and un-planned.
21. Maintain a reliable personal vehicle and auto liability insurance. Must possess a fully insurable driving record, indicating a history of safe and responsible driving.
General Duties:
1. Attend TOGETHER! agency training sessions and staff meetings.
