Electrical Technician

Full job description Tootsie Roll Industries, a confectioner company with over 50 years in Chicago is looking for Electrical Technician. Here at the Chicago Plant we manufacture Tootsie Rolls, Tootsie Pops, and Dots. Job Description This candidate will provide electrical and programing support for repairs, troubleshooting, new equipment installation and startup of the equipment. The candidate will need to interact with management, mechanics and OEM technical service. Job Responsibilities Ensure safety by following company safety rules, including Lock-out Tag-out, GMPs and SQF. Work with minimal supervision to resolve electro-mechanical issues and equipment errors on automated material handling system and related equipment and perform repair and preventive maintenance. Work with the multiple versions of Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs and HMIs to be used in conjunction with a strong understating of electrical control systems, 480V power feed and distribution, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PCs, Robotics and control network. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED Clear oral & written communication skills in English required Ability to lift 40 lbs Ability to work with minimal supervision Capable of moving up and down building stairways and ladders Able to obtain and maintain forklift and scissor lift certification Able to work overtime and irregular hours when necessary Able to work professionally and effectively with co-workers to meet common goals Able to understand work orders, drawings, blue prints, diagrams and equipment manuals Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills required Very good electrical control wiring and panel assembly skills required Minimum 10 years of electrical experience with industrial equipment Minimum 3 years of experience with PLCs and programing Experience with VFDs, HMIs, Analog sensors and controllers required Experience with 480V electrical system required Experience with RSlogix 500 and Studio 5000 required Experience with Factory Talk View Studio required Familiarity with packaging and palletizing equipment desired Familiarity with fluid process equipment and controls desired Electrical Degree or certifications is a plus Tootsie Roll Industries offers: Competitive wages Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage Paid Vacation Up to 40 hrs per year of Chicago Paid Sick Time Union Pension 401K Participation Option of working Over Time available Job Type: Full-time Pay: $39.48 - $41.30 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: Dental insurance Employee assistance program Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Schedule: 8 hour shift Work Location: In person
