The Plant Operator-Nights role is a true all-around support position for Top Tier Ingredients. Working with management and all the operational areas of Top Tier Ingredients, the successful candidate will be cross-trained in sanitation, line operation, truck loading and unloading, general cleaning of the plant and its equipment, and many other areas of the operation. This person will be called to stand in for all the operational areas for break relief, days off, and any other interruptions in coverage on the floor.
Core Responsibilities:
- Sanitation Responsibilities
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the process equipment to establish a clean environment for receiving, producing, and packaging quality ingredients for our partners. The sanitation technician ensures that all equipment and facilities are effectively sanitized under established food manufacturing regulations and in compliance with government sanitation requirements.
- Line Operator Responsibilities
The Drum Line Operator's primary function involves running a potato-dehydrating drum line. They are responsible for maintaining an adequate and consistent flow of mash, monitoring and adjusting the feed auger and roller adjustments, as well as the shoveling product as needed. They also ensure that the drum operates efficiently and effectively by keeping plenty of mash on all applicator rolls and making sure that only pure mash is on the applicator rollers to minimize defects. The Drum Line Operator must always consider product quality and work towards producing a consistent product based on customer and Top Tier specifications.
- General Operations Responsibilities
General Operations duties include covering breaks and days off for the line operator, loading and offloading trucks, and general cleaning of the plant, break areas, and bathrooms, as time allows. It is expected that the person fulfilling this role follows instructions for the safe lifting and carrying of various sizes, shapes, and weight of objects; identifies/reports defective equipment; reports all job-related injuries to management, practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection, and Follows all applicable SOP's for the area in which they are assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrates the ability to operate equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactors, vacuum cleaners, and floor scrubbers safely and knowledgeably.
- Works independently, with no direct supervision at a high efficiency level.
- Lock-out Tag-out and BfP (bloodborne pathogens) trained.
- Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Intermediate Computer Skills.
- Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of related consumer food manufacturing sanitation experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders, walk on catwalks, and work on and around plant equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, regularly, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of hire.
Work Schedule:
- The Plant Operator work schedule can vary depending on the time of year and product demand. One can expect 40 to 50 hours over 5-6 days per week.
- Hours: 5pm to 5am
