Job Purpose
FW test engineer to maintain the stability of the HiperXR & previous generations hardware units. Able to identify any issues at module level of the GNSS receivers and raise concerns with respective teams. Ability to develop test plans, testing scripts to identify any issues from the receiver.
Core Job Duties
- Bring up devices with different FW builds for validating stability of HiperXR receiver.
- Create different FW ITB/ builds for PRs to verify functionality and check for regressions.
- Design and develop test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures to test effectiveness and stability of the Topcon GNSS receivers
- Develop testing programs using python/ MATLAB/ C to validate backward compatibility with existing Topcon receivers
- Tests and modifies general systems-level software/hardware, specialized utility and/or hardware.
- Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoots, and documents problems with program function, output, or content via JIRA.
- Develops testing programs that assess effectiveness of a new system or modification of an existing system.
- Collects information (e.g., logs, requirements) and identifies basic patterns/trends related to systems testing.
- Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Determines which work tasks are most important for self and junior engineers, avoids distractions, and completes work in a timely manner.
- Communicates detailed and regular feedback about identified feature issues to software and systems teams.
- Collaborates with individuals inside own team and with other teams to complete project work.
- Work closely with field test team to enable them perform a smooth test, note any issues reported from the field and prioritize them according to the project timeline.
- Maintain various devices connected to remote machines for easy access to teams working across different time zones.
- Resolves straightforward technical issues and escalates to technical leads as necessary.
- Adapts to significant changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in the field related to Electrical Engineering
- 4 years’ work experience in GNSS area.
- Interprets wireless specifications. Designs test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
- Documents systems-level defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to developers.
- Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoots, and documents problems.
- Knowledge of any script language for fast postprocess data analysis (MATLAB, Python)
- Familiar with version control systems (GIT)
- Knowledge of GNSS operation principles
- Confident English skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work with other’s code
- Problem solving, both as part of a team and individually
- Self-disciplined approach to achieve engineering deadlines and objectives.
