Qualifications
- Must hold a current Kansas Certified Teacher License,OR Standard Substitute License OR Emergency Substitute Teacher License.
- Applicants must meet the Kansas State Department of Education certification requirements.
- Knowledge and skills in proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, and basic math; methodologies, techniques and practices used to address the educational and emotional needs of regular program and special education students.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
- Ability to implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher while ensuring the integrity of academic time in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
- Ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students; ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgment.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and district policies. Ability to apply appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behaviors; ability to display problem solving cooperative negotiating skills and conflict resolution strategies.
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student, school personnel, and parent information.
- Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies and/or practices.
