What are the responsibilities and job description for the SALES & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER position at Toray?

The Sales and Business Development Manager provides overall supervision of the Sales, Customer Services and Warehouse Departments, monitoring all aspects of these departments. The Business Development Director works at an administrative level, providing organizational guidance to all departments. This individual is responsible for the support and facilitation of the Quality Policy and the Continuous Improvement Plan. This person is responsible for the review and approval for customer satisfaction surveys, quotations and customer contracts. This person is a member of the Executive Management Team and the Steering Team. This person monitors and facilitates customer complaints. This individual is responsible for attaining projected sales and growth to support the company’s plan. This individual is responsible for the overall supervision of the order entry department, appropriate external document control (i.e.: formulations), plant measurements, and raw materials purchases. The position requires one to be familiar with plastics process in order make reasonable judgments and decisions, organize time efficiently, and communicate effectively with all departments, plants, companies, and government agencies. Work also involves one to remember situations, comprehend (oral/written) instructions, illustrate precision to detail, and compute numbers and formulas accurately

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop new business. Initiate contract and pricing
  • Overall supervision of customer service department
  • Overall supervision of warehouse department
  • Responsible for review of all customer contacts
  • Assures customer satisfaction through surveys
  • Collects and reviews competitor data
  • Supports business plan (projections/forecasts).
  • Monitors the purchase of raw materials.
  • Has the authority to have any production line shut down immediately if a safety or quality issue exists.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement within department


Qualifications:

  • College degree in business is required
  • 5 to 10 years of job related experience is preferred
  • Must possess excellent business communication skills, excellent computer and math skills, , problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and cooperation/teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of production and general machine operation, and basic office machines is extremely important
  • The ability to plan and implement strategies is critical.
  • Accountable for implementation of continuous improvement plan, effectiveness of the quality system and overall performance of the company.
