A vision therapist, under the supervision of an optometrist, provides one-to-one direct therapeutic services with patients that have eye movement, focusing, eye teaming, and visual information processing deficits utilizing specialized equipment such as prisms, lenses, filters and occlusion, computerized programs and balance and movement activities.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comprehensive Training with lecture, study material assignments, workshops and co-treatment of patients will be provided on an on-going basis.
Working one on one with patients of all abilities and all ages, having their best interest in mind. Applying vision therapy theory and techniques and adapting to increase patient success.
Providing Vision Therapy assessments using standardized tests as well as objective measurements and observations.
Charting weekly patient notes in a timely manner to get doctor signatures/approvals between sessions.
Providing doctor support in managing electronic charts, scheduling, report writing, and record keeping.
Phone and in-person conversations with patients and families to meet patient's needs.
All other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Experience in Ophthalmic or Optometric Industry is a plus but is not required.
Experience in working with children with special needs, behavioral modification/ABA therapy, child and geriatric care, and rehabilitation therapy is welcomed.
Need to be creative, fun and willing to adapt quickly to different situations to provide the best treatment for patients.
Must be a team player to ensure all vision therapists, patients, and doctors can be most effective providing excellent patient care.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Must be physically able to sit for long periods of time, read a computer screen for long periods of time, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to get down on the floor, squatting, and stooping is also required. Hand dexterity, and eye and hand coordination critical. Employee is subject to inside environmental conditions. Employee’s schedule could include after hour projects, as needed. Travel, as needed between practices.

Salary : $18 - $20
