Reporting to the Chief Strategic Development Officer, the Director of Donor Engagement serves as a key leader and fundraising strategist for the university, accountable for creating and implementing an annual development plan, cultivating new relationships, identifying prospective high-level prospects, and building strong, lasting relationships to inspire and secure major and transformational gifts, and enhancing philanthropic engagement.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include developing a comprehensive fundraising program, the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors and prospects. The Director will manage their portfolio, develop strategies and execute outreach, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity for new and any assigned existing donors; schedule and conduct cultivation, briefing, solicitation, and stewardship meetings; achieve agreed upon goals, including donor face-to-face visits, asks, dollars raised, and donor communication. Achieve specific and measurable agreed upon goals for contacts, portfolio management, proposals presented, and dollars raised.
The Director is responsible for executing donor acquisition strategies that enhance the university's fundraising capacity at all levels to meet or exceed agreed upon goals of this position. The Director will play a key supporting role in securing financial support for university programs, initiatives, and events. This position works closely with the Deans, faculty, and staff to develop strategic annual and multi-year fundraising plans. This position involves working with various departments, engaging with donors and alumni, and organizing and attending events to advance fundraising goals.
The Director is responsible for maintaining accurate donor records and tracking progress towards individual and team goals through the donor database, adjusting strategies when necessary, in order to deliver on strategic objectives. They will compose all correspondence relating to activity, including but not limited to acknowledgements, donor profiles, strategy briefing documents, funding proposals, letters of intent, pledge reminders. Using Raiser's Edge to record contacts with individuals, corporations, and foundations, and to maintain accurate and timely donor records for donor stewardship, reporting, and moving donors up in their giving levels.
Ensure that stewardship of donors makes supporting the university and its students or patients a personally fulfilling experience; conveys to donors that Touro Nevada and its leaders care deeply about its supporters and appreciate what they have done for TUN; and demonstrates the impact their contributions have on the institution.
Formulate a deep understanding of the research initiatives of the Colleges at TUN, and the aspirations of key faculty members and leaders; identify stories that will elevate awareness and understanding of funding priorities; and communicate those stories in clear and compelling terms with multiple internal and external audiences.
Foster strong collaborative working relationships with colleagues in development and alumni engagement; leverage the power of that collaborative approach to identify new donors and facilitate engagement opportunities for prospects.
Prepares university leaders and advisory board members as necessary for donor meetings and guides their critical role in the giving conversation and donor process.
Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan aligning with the Development department's goals, identifying and meeting with donors, philanthropists, foundations, and influential leaders for opportunities and collaboration. Establishing key performance indicators in which to measure the effectiveness of fundraising plans and make adjustments as needed.
Maintains awareness and understanding through continuing education and interaction with colleagues at other institutions of trends, developments, and new fundraising techniques, especially as related to medicine, healthcare, medical simulation, and research fundraising.
Assures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, relevant contractual obligations, and recognized accounting and reporting standards applicable to fundraising. Ensuring the integrity of Touro University Nevada’s non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) corporation.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of using data-driven metrics to measure impact and identify areas for improvement. Prepares regular reports for leadership on community engagement activities, outcomes, and key findings.
Qualifications
Education :
Minimum eligibility requirement is a high-school diploma or GED and meet below qualifications.
Qualifications :
At least 10 years of frontline leadership and / or major gift fundraising experience and proven success in soliciting and closing major and leadership gifts, five- and six-figures.
OR 5 years of frontline leadership and / or major gift fundraising experience and proven success in soliciting and closing major and leadership gifts, five- and six-figures AND a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or other related field.
- Excellent strategic, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external constituents including advisory board members, donors, and foundations.
- An orientation towards outcomes and the flexibility and willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve them – which includes patience, creativity, and perseverance.
- Self-directed with the ability to prioritize among competing responsibilities and use good judgment in a university environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to draft persuasive proposals, deliver compelling presentations, and engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with a team, supporting others as needed to meet overall goals of the department and organization.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge, CRM software.
- Conversant in basic gift planning techniques preferred.
- Strong understanding of community needs and issues within the local area.
