What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance technician position at Town Of Abingdon?
Position Description :
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the continual maintenance and repair of facilities owned and operated by the Town of Abingdon.
The Technician must be able to manage, prioritize, and complete tasks independently, and work with contractors as needed.
The Technician should have general working knowledge of HVAC, carpentry and finishing work, plumbing, and electrical. Experience in construction and maintenance field is required.
Skills and Requirements :
- Ability to Multi-task
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to plan and manage projects under the direction of the Foreman
- Must have the ability to lift 60 lbs. and climb onto ladders and / or scaffolding
- Working knowledge of current construction methods, materials, tools and equipment
- Must have a valid Virginia Driver's license
Training and Certification Preferences :
- Commercial HVAC
- General plumbing
- General electrical
Applicants must be able to successfully complete a criminal history background check, pre-employment drug screen, and WorkSTEPS functional employment screen
