STREETS MAINTENANCE LABORER -Non CDL
Department: Public Works Reports to: Street Manager Class Code: 17 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs various road and street repairs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Performs routine road repairs and maintenance; performs pothole patching.
- Repairs, replaces or installs street signs.
- Operates various motorized vehicles.
- Performs traffic control, flagging and signage set up.
- Performs snow and ice removal.
- Performs mowing and weed removal.
- Makes repairs of vandalized areas.
- Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the Town by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
- Supports the relationship between the Town and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors and Town staff; enthusiastically promotes the Town’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
- For the foreseeable future, this position will participate in the construction of large Public Works Projects. This position must demonstrate an ability to follow complex directions, run heavy earthmoving equipment, support staff operating other heavy equipment, and participate in the construction of roadways, box culverts, drainage systems, and other Public Works Projects as necessary.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Possession of a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
Required Knowledge of:
- Basic hand tools and motorized equipment.
- Equipment safety practices.
Required Ability to:
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff, inspectors and the general public.
- Operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Use various power and hand tools.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in an outdoor work environment. May be required to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to heavy equipment and machinery. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. May be exposed to infectious diseases. May be required to work in trenches.
