What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gatekeeper/Ticket Seller position at Town of Greenwich?

Gatekeeping requires employee to check passes and control access to the beaches.  Ticket sellers sell day passes and collect fees.
 
Position is one of public relations in that one is constantly dealing with public.  
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Report for work on time
  • Perform duties in a courteous and timely manner
  • Keep booth/sales area, and immediate surrounding area, tidy and free of litter/debris.
  • Adhere to established policies and use sound judgement when interpreting rules for admission
  • Record relevant information for record keeping
  • Sell tickets to the public and be responsible for accounting of sales at the end of the shift
  • Report any incidents to supervisor
  • Wear Town-issued Gatekeeper shirt while on duty 

It is the individual's responsibility to inform their immediate supervisor as soon as possible, prior to their shift, if they cannot report to work as scheduled.  

Personnel are prohibited from possessing, consuming, or using alcohol and/or controlled substances in the workplace.  Personnel are prohibited from being under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances in the workplace.  The Town may require an employee to submit to a substance abuse screening if, in the opinion of a supervisor, there is reasonable cause to believe that the employee is in violation of the policy.

This is a seasonal position. 
Must be at least 18 years of age, and be able to work independently with good judgment.  Must possess strong customer service skills.  Must posses a proven ability to work efficiently and timely under pressure.  Must possess accurate accounting skills and be able to handle cash in accordance with Town policies. Must possess effective computer skills.  Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
 

Salary : $16 - $17
