PART.TIME BRUSH AND LEAF ATTENDANT
EXEMPT: NO SALARY LEVEL: B1
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS
REPORTS TO: PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
LOCATION: SULLIVAN DRIVE
HOURS: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays- 23 hours per week)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Working under the general supervision of the Public Works Director attends to the Town of Guilford Brush and Leaf Disposal Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out the approved plans for the operation of the Town's brush and leaf disposal center in accordance with the State's environmental regulations to meet the obiective of maximum utilization of the site.
- Collects checks and/or punches tickets to accurately account for amounts of brush andlor leaves disposed on site.
- Prepares the site for dumping of brush and leaves, keeping the site free of debris.
- Oversees the dumping of brush and leaves by residents and contractors' a Performs routine maintenance of building and yard. a
- Complies with all proper safety procedures and regulations. a
- Treats other employees and any others with whom there is contact, with courtesy, respect and professionalism. a Performs other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS. AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of related federal and state environmental laws and town regulations.
- Knowledge of English and basic mathematics.
- Skills in dealing with the public, including flexibility' o
- Skills in oral communication. o Ability to handle heavy vehicular traffic each day'
- Ability, strength and stamina to perform duties in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to deal effectively with the general public and contractors
- Ability to follow all safety instructions, and maintain safety standards. o
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to work on Saturdays.
- Ability to work six (6) days a week in the month of November.
- Ability to plow snow, preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively and constructively in resolving issues or problems.
- Ability to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
- Ability to meet and serve the public pleasantly, tactfully and informatively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and colleagues. o Ability to treat other employees, and those with whom they come into contact, including the public, with courtesy, respect and professionalism.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), supplemented by one
(l) year ofrelated experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditi,ons. The employee will be required on occasion to work near moving mechanical parts. Job requires frequent interaction with general public. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times can be loud.
