Building Custodian 2nd Shift

Overview
Under the direction of the Superintendent, this individual is responsible for manual

cleaning tasks in the town buildings. The handling of accidents (i.e. spills, breakage,

bathroom issues, etc.). Addressing any minor mechanical issues (i.e. heat, sound

system, alarm, lights, and HVAC). Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and mopping daily

and as needed, moving and rearranging furniture, setup, and cleaning/maintenance of

building grounds, cutting grass, trimming hedges, and shoveling of walkways.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in building
• maintenance or related field preferred.
• Experience in light maintenance and janitorial work.
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment employed in keeping
• offices and public buildings clean.
• Ability to learn and perform simple and repetitive tasks quickly.
• Ability to establish effective relations with the public and to enforce regulations
• courteously.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to perform routine computer functions.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy manual work.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize
• tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using maintenance-related tools, equipment, and technology,
• including computer-based work order systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff,
• vendors, and department leadership.
• Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations and make sound decisions
• under pressure.
• Familiarity with workplace safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and
• ability to enforce compliance.
• Valid license required; ability to operate maintenance vehicles and
• equipment as necessary.
• Overtime hours are expected.

Pay: From $63,151.00 per year
