Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for the overall management of a TRAC Services, Service Center. This role will lead a team of people in the performance of CY and depot related services (M&R, gate, storage, and handling) on intermodal equipment. This role has P&L responsibility for all activities related to the site and must be able to match P&L results to site activities. The candidate should be a high energy, positive outlook leader with experience leading a team and achieving financial results. They are responsible for meeting customer expectations as it relates to running a depot operation. The individual needs to have computer experience working with proprietary software as well as inventory management experience. This person will have full accountability for the team as well as all the profit and expenses for the entire site.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

 

  • Hiring and management of all staff working in support of the Service Center Operation.
  • Liaise with landlord and inspectors for any site updates or changes needed.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient and productive operation of the repair shop
  • Establish yard pattern for traffic flow and parking gate to gate
  • Receive and process units terminating from a TRAC lease.
  • Repair & scrap units in a manner meeting all TRAC process requirements.
  • Ensure all mechanical activity meets TRAC repair standards
  • Remain compliant with all safety standards and regulations including OSHA and FMCSA.
  • Provide management oversight and review of all activities in place at depots that have a revenue and cost component: storage, handling, repairs, etc…
  • Monitor repair activities and track production levels against target. Ensure targets are met each day / week / month
  • Facilitate system evaluation of units as repair candidates vs. storage candidates at depots
  • Use proprietary software as the site activity control platform to ensure the timely billing of all activities and accurate equipment inventory updates
  • Maintain the accuracy of data held within the inventory control system
  • Create Ad-hoc reports as needed

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience managing a team with P&L responsibility
    • chassis and / or trailer M&R and / or depot site management experience preferred
    • chassis or trailer M&R and / or depot site management experience preferred
  • PC literate / MS Office Product literate, especially Excel, Word, Internet Explorer & Outlook
  • Preferred experience working with a quality process / system (e.g. ISO, Six Sigma, TQM etc.)
  • Ability to understand a P&L report and how it relates to business activities
  • Ability work within a process-oriented team atmosphere
  • Ability to adjust priorities daily if necessary, to meet changing goals
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
  • Ability to identify issues and implement resolutions before a problem is created
  • Ability to meet deadlines; prioritize workloads and handle multiple tasks on a daily basis
  • Ability to learn company proprietary software programs
  • Ability to secure Railsafe
  • Ability to operate lift machines and common shop equipment a plus
  • Ability to generate ad hoc reports as may be needed for managing the site or at management’s direction

 

Special Position Requirements

 

This position may require versatility in variable shift starts and supervision.
