What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator/Project Manager position at Trace Industries?
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Construction Workeragement, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Federal Construction and/or Design or 5 years of field experience on Federal Projects Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
- Excellent organizational, time management, communication, leadership and decision-making skills
- Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
- Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and must be able to review and edit reports and proposals).
- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and blueprints
- Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
- Ability to control and manage budgets and schedules.
- Able to make modifications to budget and schedules from field inputs on short notice.
- Capable of managing both schedule and budget and completing the contract within the projected Estimate to Completion (ETC). High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions.
- Ensures adherence to all safety and quality practices and procedures while performing or supervising the performance of tasks in all work areas.
- Capable of developing subcontractor bid packages and executing purchase orders.
- Ability to lead and communicate effectively.
- Coordinates and supervises assigned project staff and subcontracted workers.
- Ability to multi-task under time constraints and working effectively as a team player in a professional office environment.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills with clients, customers, owners or owners Reps, Contracting Officers, Subcontractors and suppliers
- Demonstrate excellent written communication skills
- Proficient in using office equipment and computer and software such as: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Microsoft Projects. Other project management or estimating software knowledge a PLUS
- Knowledge or willingness to learn client project management programs such as eBuilder, Gordian and Procore
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
- Review project plans, requirements and specifications
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
- Prepare conceptual estimates
- Determine labor and construction equipment costs
- Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job-walks
- Submit requisitions for purchase of materials
- Compare competitive trade bids
- Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager
- Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters)
- Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors
- Participate in bid compilation on bid day
- Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award
- Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors
- Determine and define scope of work and deliverables
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and customer on assigned projects to meet schedules
- Capable of developing subcontractor bid packages and executing purchase orders.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
- Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
- Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
- Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
- Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
- Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
- Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
- Draft and submit budgets, schedules, plans, and work descriptions
- Manage and control costs to meet budget
- Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes
- Prepare and present reports on project performance
- Work closely with others: Project Manager, QC Manager, Safety Manager and other team members to ensure projects are on schedule and budget
- Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and customer
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
- Other duties as required by President
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
