What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Developer position at Tractr Jeans?

An incredible and unique product development opportunity with a fast-growing branded contemporary and private label denim & sportswear company in women’s, women’s plus, and girls 2-14. An apparel background and a good eye for aesthetics is a must, as you will be working in conjunction with the design team, developing seasonal lines for branded as well as some private label lines. You should work well under pressure and be able to handle tight deadlines.
As the Product Developer, you will utilize your knowledge related to product, patterns, fit, and construction ,while working closely with design and merchandising team to understand the creative vision of each project and translate concepts into cad, then products. You will work closely with all in-house teams, along with overseas vendors to facilitate with product development and production construction details . In Product Creation and Development, you will be involved in the first stages of creating new products from concept to first sample tech packs. When starting with first concepts, you should be able to translate ideas into believable cads that are appealing to buyers, and used as sales tools. Strong photoshop and illustrator background and skills are essential, especially in the denim area, when mockup cads that look realistic are necessary. You will be involved in all areas of collaboration, from creative brainstorming, to choosing fabrics and washes, sourcing trims, call outs, product testing, record keeping, and product confirmation,
Responsibilities:• Partner between design, merchandising, technical design, sometimes sales, and overseas development teams to drive concepts in to executable samples.• Review tech packs for accuracy, completeness, quality, affordability, and compliance prior to sampling.• Create Tech Packs in Illustrator, photoshop and Excel as needed.• Evaluate and comment on samples from start to finish, past initial concept design.• Communicate daily with overseas teams regarding styles on design, development, and delivery throughout sampling and production phases and keeping track of flow to ensure timely samples• Responsible for delivering samples on time to the quality standard, within price range.• Maintain current production libraries of blanks, colors, and fabrications.• Ensure the delivery and evaluation of quality lab dips/print strike-offs and communicate comments to vendor• Regularly organize, update, and maintain CADs and line sheets.• Attend and participate in weekly cross functional meeting.• Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:• 3 years’ experience in apparel product development or production. Denim experience a plus.• Candidate must have technical capability and strong product knowledge of apparel construction and production to confidently influence decisions. (Garment construction , fabric construction, knowledge of embellishments)• Must have a great eye for style, aesthetics, colors, and follow trends.• Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company• Demonstrates excellent time-management and prioritization skills while working on multiple projects simultaneously• International and domestic travel as required to achieve a high level of product and technology development, including visits to manufacturing facilities, R&D partners and stores to assist in the creation, development, commercialization and integration of product• Consistently meets deadlines with an understanding and commitment to company design calendar.• Detail-oriented and possess organizational skills; ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy.• Collaborative attitude that proactively engages with cross-functional teams to achieve best results.• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator• Ability to speak Chinese a plus
