At Trailhead Biosystems, we focus on the generation of cell types from all germ layers and have programs focusing on ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm cell differentiation. We are seeking an Scientific Director, Assay Development who will lead the development and optimization of protocols for various functional assays for iPSC-derived cells from three germ layers. This role requires an innovative and strategic thinker with a strong background in biology and stem cell cultures, as well as managing a team of scientists. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects, ensuring they meet timeline, budget and quality standards.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead the design, execution, and optimization of cellular assays to support functional application of iPSC-derived cells
- Develop and implement novel strategies for developing assays for unique applications of specialized cell types
- Building and managing a team of research associates and scientists
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D and manufacturing to ensure alignment of objectives
- Prepare and present findings to relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Stay up to date on state-of-the-art technologies and trends in the field and uphold internal quality standards
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant field with minimum of 5 years of experience
- Experience with 2D & 3D cell cultures, co-culture, molecular and cellular assays such as immunocytochemistry, qPCR, flow cytometry and ELISA
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
