Job Description
Rig Operators are tasked with several critical responsibilities that are central to successful plugging operations. The main task of an operator is to run his crew under the supervision of a cementer on location. Rig operator will be working hand-in-hand with the cementer to ensure the well is completed in a timely. They oversee the setup and operation of the rigs and are directly involved in the plugging process. It is their duty to ensure that all operations comply with company policies and relevant regulations. Managing the efficiency and safety of the rig site falls under their jurisdiction, as does coordinating the work of other crew members to optimize plugging procedures.
Work Activities
The daily duties of a Rig Operator include monitoring plugging operations and assessing the functionality of the rig equipment. They are also responsible for:
- Controlling the operations of the rig machinery and equipment
- Performing routine maintenance and ensuring repairs are carried out on the rig equipment to prevent disruption.
- Recording data about the plugging operation and providing reports on rig activity
- Ensuring that all safety protocols are followed to reduce the risk of accidents and environmental harm
- Supervising the rig crew and ensuring proper communication and adherence to operational guidelines
Qualifications & experience
To qualify for a position as a Rig Operator, candidates typically need to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Further qualifications in fields related to mechanical or petroleum engineering can be advantageous. Specific training and certifications are also crucial for the role, including:
- Safety certifications related to handling hazardous materials and emergency response
- Experience with hydraulic systems and diesel machinery
- Physical fitness and the ability to pass a medical examination
- Bilingual (Preferred)
