What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calibration Technician I position at Transcat, Inc.?
Calibration Technician II is a mid-level position. These technicians will have the ability to calibrate higher-level equipment and calibrate equipment across a minimum of three disciplines (or have an expert level of knowledge/calibration experience in one to two disciplines).
Major Areas of Responsibility
Perform their own calibration work with little to no supervision
Conduct their own research when necessary
Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
Able to conduct calibration work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
Work with lab support staff
Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
Be able to read and interpret labs scopes of accreditation
Maintain calibration standards
Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
Must be able to travel approximately 50% of work schedule
Primary Objectives
Learn and develop fundamental skills necessary to calibration techniques and processes which includes high level production with minimal errors
Develop team lead skills and responsibilities
Develop skills necessary to advise calibration process for lower level technicians
Develop skills necessary to advance to sr. calibration technician position which includes a working knowledge and competency level of 3 in at least 6 disciplines or competency level 4-5 in 2 disciplines and obtain the ASQ/CCT certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to learn new skills in regard to calibration and calibration processes
Previous experience with electronic or pressure training preferred
Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry and statistics
Familiarity with basic tools
Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Basic organizational and time management skills
Basic interpersonal skills to interact with customers
Position will include team lead responsibilities
Candidates with experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics highly desired
Education and Experience

Associate degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related field experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
$25 - $38 an hour
