What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician II position at TransCore?
TransCore (TCI) is seeking a full-time Technician II to join our team in the Tampa, FL area.
Summary: Generator Service Technician II will be responsible for performing both shop and/or field repairs, maintenance service and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators, including automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks.
Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators
- Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose standard problems with power generation equipment.
- Perform standard repairs on power generation equipment and related support equipment; replace support equipment as necessary.
- Identify and order appropriate parts to complete repairs and routine maintenance.
- Drive company vehicle to and from job sites throughout the day. Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required on occasion
- Provide assistance to junior level technicians on smaller jobs.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly shop work areas, company vehicles, and job site work areas
Required Skills/Abilities
- Working knowledge of power generation systems and its components, including knowledge of the mechanical operation, associated hazards, and proper usage of the equipment to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose malfunctions
- Proficient with generator and transfer switch controls
- Ability to interpret schematics and operational manuals for practical application on repair and maintenance tasks
- Must have strong mechanical and electrical background
- Ability to perform duties in non-climate-controlled environments such as outdoor weather conditions and non-weather related wet, humid and/or extreme heat conditions
- Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects up to 100 lbs. throughout the work day
- Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen
Education/Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or two to four years related experience.
