Overview of Position:
The Dispatcher role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, customer service and multitasking skills. The ability to able to work in a high-pressure environment, making quick decisions and providing direction to multiple operators. Dispatcher will oversee the daily schedules of buses and provide driving directions, troubleshooting, and coordination with maintenance teams. Dispatchers will monitor traffic conditions and weather updates to ensure that buses can operate safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responds, records, and resolves customer feedback via multiple channels communicates and coordinates with internal departments to help meet customer needs.
- Performs weekly audits that meet Transdev’s policies and procedures.
- Schedules buses and drivers for transportation routes via Radio and window Dispatch Work
- Serves as an emergency contact for operators in the field. Responds to emergency situations and reroutes buses to avoid traffic or accidents.
- Communicates with operators on delays with their routes, mechanical issues, incidents, and accidents.
- Communicates and coordinates with internal departments, supervisory and operator personnel.
- Monitor on time performance using GPS tracking system to ensure buses are adhering to schedules on time performance and route changes such as detours.
- Maintains necessary transit records, logs, and reports.
- Answers calls from clients and send email updates regarding service changes, missed service, incidents, and accidents.
- Records and logs all operator absence, no call no show and lates. Works diligently to schedule all open work.
- Train new Dispatchers and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
- Other Duties as required.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, such as GED
- Must be 21 years older.
- CA ONLY- VTT Certification
- Must have a good driving record.
- Must possess or be able to maintain a valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement and Air brake endorsement
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Two years transit related experiences
- College coursework
- Previous bus r heavy duty vehicle driving experience preferred
- One to two years Dispatch and/or customer service experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge required:
- A valid Class B or higher Commercial Drivers License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements required
- Moderate to proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Programs computer skills with knowledge
- Moderate to Advance typing skills
- Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and route and adapt to rapid changes
- Ability to read, comprehend and understand a map, and interpret Transit systems operating routes, regulations, policies, phase and route
- Ability to operate a commercial vehicle and assist with handicap passengers when needed
- Ability to use multi-line phone system and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work with diverse groups

- Clear speech and pleasant phone demeaner
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Drug testing and criminal background check
- Ten years of Employment Verification (including gaps in employment)
- Testing related to job requirements.
- Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card.

- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25lbs.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
