TRC creates and implements sophisticated and innovative solutions to the challenges facing America’s energy markets and infrastructure. A national energy and environmental services organization, TRC provides its services to America’s major industries, utilities, banks, insurance companies, and federal, state, and local government agencies.

TRC Advanced Energy is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to contribute to the development and implementation of state and regional initiatives related to clean energy workforce development. The Project Associate will have an integral role in implementing solutions and interventions to address workforce training and skills gaps that impact clean energy employers in various sectors. They will be supporting a highly successful and highly visible statewide public benefit workforce development program. The Project Associate will engage with employers, training providers, and clean energy businesses about clean energy and workforce development issues. The Project Associate will work with TRC and client teams to contribute to the development and implementation of insightful, creative solutions and test market-based approaches to address workforce skills gaps and overcoming market barriers in areas such as clean tech start-ups, smart buildings, large scale renewables, advanced renewable heating and cooling technologies, and energy storage.

The position involves frequent interaction with stakeholders and program participants. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with team members (internal and external) of varied backgrounds. This position requires flexibility; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent organizational and customer care skills.

The position is located in either Clifton Park, NY or New York City, NY.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to implement market-transforming clean energy initiatives related to workforce development and training;
  • Support lead project managers in maintaining strong relationships with participants to ensure that program-funded projects stay on schedule and provide required deliverables;
  • Use effective systems and processes to track project status for reporting, efficiency, and strategy purposes;
  • Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables;
  • Promote initiatives to customers, developers, contractors, and manufacturers;
  • Solicit market feedback to continuously adapt workforce development strategies to optimize impact, overcome technical and market barriers, optimize private investment, and increase the scale of training initiatives;
  • Ensure programs are designed such that they achieve intended outcomes, are easy-to-use, responsive to customers and partners, maintain operational flexibility needed to evolve, and minimize administrative cost and unnecessary contracting burdens; and
  • Implement strategies to regularly measure and communicate program results and use that information to continually improve program design.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or master’s degree, plus relevant experience.
  • 1 years of experience within the technical education / training, green building, clean energy, or building science industries.
  • Project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be a quick and eager learner of new material and think holistically about complex challenges with technical and non-technical components.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with key stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to drive big picture goals while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively evaluate information and data to make decisions.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Awareness of social, economic, and environmental contexts of statewide energy and/or workforce development policies.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in workforce training and development or relevant experience in the renewable or energy efficiency markets with demonstrated knowledge of the related market participants, stakeholders and workforce training and development initiatives.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working with a department of labor, community college workforce development program, or related entities.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience with jobs training, workforce development, and/or supportive services administration for members of disadvantaged communities.
