What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Mate on Passenger Sailboat position at Treasure Coast Sailing Adventures?
First Mate Duties: handling lines, mooring boat, raising and lowering sail, tying sails, climbing on bowsprit, deck and below deck maintenance/cleaning. Must interact in a outgoing, friendly manner with passengers during sails. Must respond quickly to Captain's directions. Candidate must be able bodied, athletic, and personable. Responsible for checking passengers in and sometimes booking passengers through a booking app. Mate is required to be on our drug consortium and be subject to random drug testing as required by the Coast Guard. First aid/cpr certification will be requried.
Expected skills: must be able to tie off a dock line, sail lines, coil lines and pick up a mooring line and tie off. Basic knot tying a must. If able to learn quickly, will interview applicants with not much experience but that have interest in the boating/sailing industry. General boat maintenance experience is a plus.
Candidate may also qualify Charter Boat captain for six passenger vessel: must have a six pack license and be a proficient sailor
