The Company
Trecora specializes in manufacturing high-purity hydrocarbons, specialty petrochemical products, and synthetic polyethylene waxes. In addition to our product lines, we offer custom processing services. We operate multiple facilities across the United States, with our headquarters located in The Woodlands, TX where this position is based.
The Position
The Plant Process Engineer is responsible for building and managing the design and production of chemical processes. This position will be expected to evaluate existing processes and configure manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process. The Process Engineer performs risk assessments and reviews safety/quality standards to ensure the facility is properly meeting these guidelines.
- Oversee and assess existing processes and workflows.
- Optimize productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
- Assemble reports to document process status and changes.
- Designs processes and equipment related to the development and commercialization of new products or services that are cost effective and within project budget.
- Oversees process design projects and ensure the efficient and safe functioning of all the processes related to product manufacturing.
- Develop innovative solutions, enhance systems, and implement improvements that increase efficiency and optimize all phases of service or production processes, from design to manufacturing.
- Conducts tests on systems for efficiency and accuracy until a quality and cost-effective production process is implemented successfully.
- Track, evaluate, and recommend changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources, including labor, energy, and raw materials.
- Assess safety requirements and ensure that these are integrated into the process, maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
- Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Collect production data and apply standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
- Identify process bottlenecks and devise solutions to resolve.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and advise on corrective actions.
- Support small capital projects via a Direct project management role or via coordination of outside engineering/construction firm(s).
- Participate in PHAs as needed.
- Work with Operations to update SOPs as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related experience is required.
- Minimum 7 years of plant operation experience in either a batch or continuous environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and practices.
