The Position
The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes by identifying areas for improvement, resolving production issues, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency, implement best practices, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
- Identify and resolve issues during production to ensure smooth and continuous operations.
- Evaluate current processes to drive improvements in efficiency, cost, and product quality.
- Design, implement, and oversee new or modified chemical manufacturing processes.
- Apply lean manufacturing and industry best practices to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Lead investigations into equipment downtime, process deviations, safety incidents, and quality concerns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment performance and reliability, and recommend upgrades or modifications as needed.
- Develop and maintain safety protocols in alignment with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
- Ensure all production processes and equipment meet relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Establish and maintain quality control systems to ensure product consistency and compliance.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to support efficient production.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production data, process changes, and safety information.
- Analyze production metrics, create technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on technical support and training to production staff on process standards and troubleshooting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a chemical production environment is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles and practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
