What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at tri-c?
Performs a full range of academic, personal, career,
and transfer counseling activities with diverse student populations. These
include but are not limited to, assisting college students, (which may include
College Credit Plus students), in developing academic and career goals; creating
and developing educational academic plans to degree/certificate completion
and/or transfer; identifying and developing strategies and skills for adapting
to the educational environment, and providing academic counseling to students
in academic curriculum areas. Assists
with New Student Orientations by providing individual academic counseling
appointments and New Student Orientation presentations. May provide crisis
intervention. Assignment includes day, evening and weekend hours. May teach General
Studies courses and student success workshops as needed.

non-credit courses)
- Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline – General Studies/Counseling areas
- Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
- Evaluates and grades students’ class work, assignments and papers
- Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records
- Be available to students for coaching
- Periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development
