POSITION TITLE: Ultrasound Technologist (ECHO)
REPORTS TO: Supervisor Ultrasound (ECHO)

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for safely conducting ultrasound studies in various settings per physician orders. This position assists the physician by performing Echo portions of Stress Echo’s, M-Mode, 2D, Color and Doppler Studies, Carotids, Bubble studies, and other vascular ultrasound studies as requested and as certification status permits. This position may be asked to help perform TEE studies or other studies within their skill set and registration status
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Performs testing within appropriate time frame per accreditation guidelines.
2. Maintains accuracy standards of 95% or higher with data entry.
3. Maintains accuracy standards of 95% or higher with worksheet statement selection.
4. Performs accurate measurement of appropriate organ system.
5. Reviews physician order and diagnosis to ensure accuracy.
6. Ensures patient understands test and procedure.
7. Ensures completed testing goes to the appropriate physician.
8. Maintains a clean room, stocked with necessary supplies.
9. Assists in training and mentoring new hires or externs as needed.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY
The scope requires the incumbent to have specialized knowledgeable in cardiac and vascular studies. This position interacts with patients, physicians, management, and employees in both written and verbal form.
SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This position is a safety-sensitive position in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes 23-493 (9).
TRAVEL
Local travel to other Tri City Cardiology locations is required during the business day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
Typical direct patient care/office environment
- Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach and stretch frequently.
- Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
- Requires extensive use of hands and fingers to utilize echo equipment
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of chairs or wheelchairs.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Needs to be able to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone.
- Requires use of a computer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Appropriate registry credential RDCS or RCS.
Cardiac and vascular pathology experience.
Current BLS certification (must be obtained in 90 days if not current).
Skills/Knowledge/Ability
40 wpm typing.
Knowledge of arrhythmias.
Demonstrates critical thinking ability in order to resolve problems and carry out instructions.
Ability to multi task.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills presented in an effective, clear, calm, friendly and professional manner.
Demonstrates a high sense of urgency at all times.
Ability to effectively communicate to all internal and external customers.
Manages tasks in a timely fashion.
Knowledge of basic computer and math skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents.
